Internal data of CD Projekt, including HR and financial information about employees and contractors who were associated with the production of Cyberpunk 2077, leaked to the Internet – announced in a press release. This is the aftermath of the cyber attack on CD Projekt, which the company announced in February this year.
CD Projekt also warned that data circulating on the Internet may be manipulated.
CD Projkt also announced that it is working with a large group of experts and law firms, as well as with the Polish police to solve the problem and guarantee the privacy of its employees. The company also contacted Interpol and Europol.
Cyber attack on CD Projekt
In early February 2021 CD Projekt said its internal network had been attacked by unknown perpetrators, some data was stolen and a ransom was demanded.
Unknown perpetrators gained access to the network, took some of the data belonging to the CD Projekt group and left a ransom note. The company has announced that it does not intend to contact criminals and is carrying out activities limiting the consequences of possible disclosure of data (e.g. by contacting entities that may be affected by this event).
The company then announced that, to its current knowledge, the stolen data does not contain private information about players and people using the services provided by the group.
