Today, Poland is probably the only country where the fear of vaccination is decreasing, but the fear of those who are to vaccinate us is growing – said the former prime minister and former head of the European Council on TVN24, and now the chairman of the European People’s Party Donald Tusk. – Because there are no rules, there are no clear rules, but there is this great facility of authority to accuse those who are supposed to vaccinate us – he added. He described the government’s reaction to the situation related to vaccinating people out of sequence as “an extremely nasty media attack”.
Former prime minister, former head of the European Council, and currently chairman of the European People’s Party, Donald Tusk spoke in the TVN24 program “Yes is” about how, in his opinion, the Polish government is dealing with the fight against the coronavirus.
“An attempt to throw responsibility for a malfunctioning vaccination system”
As he said, “the authorities are responsible for the vaccination system.” He referred to the case of people who took the vaccine out of sequence. – The whole scandal for the vaccination system of people who vaccinated out of sequence is an attempt to shake the responsibility for a malfunctioning vaccination system and a thing that PiS has been using for a long time, that is, putting one on top of another – he said.
– If there are any regulations, rules or principles, this is what the state is for. If someone breaks these rules, that’s what legal rules are for, not propaganda ones – said Tusk. He emphasized that “it is the authorities that must take responsibility for preparing” the vaccination process.
“An Exceptionally Nasty Media Attack”
He assessed that in this situation we were dealing with an “extremely nasty media attack” in a situation where “the ambiguity of these regulations causes the type of situation we have dealt with”.
– I do not want to accept that individual doctors, nurses and actors are responsible for the vaccination campaign in Poland, and the authorities are completely irresponsible – he said. He added that “if there are no precise rules, we will probably encounter something that is in fact not a rule.”
“There are no rules, there are no clear rules, but there is this great facility of authority to accuse those who are supposed to vaccinate us”
– My observations show that today Poland is probably the only country where the fear of vaccinations is decreasing, (…) while fear of those who are to vaccinate us is growing – he said. – Because there are no rules, there are no clear rules, but there is this great ease of the authorities to accuse those who are supposed to vaccinate us – said Tusk.
As he said, doctors may be afraid that they will face not even legal sanctions, but “public lynching”.
– I would appeal to the Polish government in this matter not to look for exaggeratedly guilty and responsible people, but to sort this mess out on their own – he added.
