Since the introduction of the obligation to cover the nose and mouth, the police punished over 55,000 people for the lack of a mask, and instructed almost 200,000 – said the spokesman of the Police Commander in Chief, Inspector Mariusz Ciarka on Sunday. He also presented data on infections among officers.

– Checking the obligation to cover the mouth and nose, since its introduction, we have instructed over 197.5 thousand people, over 55.3 thousand have been fined, and in over 14.6 thousand cases we have sent motions for punishment to the court – the inspector informed the spokesman of the Police Commander in Chief Mariusz Ciarka.

He added that in the case of filing applications to the court – as shown by the experience of individual garrisons, for example in Lower Silesia – in the vast majority of cases, the court convicts the perpetrators of offenses, and only one percent are acquitted. – It is worth remembering, because false information appears in the public space, suggesting mass acquittal of the accused. Our health is the most important – emphasized Ciarka.

Over 3.8 thousand people got a ticket within the last 24 hours

The spokesman emphasized that only in the last 24 hours, officers instructed over 1,130 people to wear masks and imposed fines on over 3,840 people, and in over 950 cases, they filed motions for punishment to the court.

The spokesman of KGP also informed that on the last day over 275,000 people sent to quarantine had been checked, and in about 850 cases the officers found irregularities qualifying for legal consequences. He recalled that the Poviat State Sanitary Inspector may impose a fine of up to PLN 30,000 on people evading quarantine, in accordance with the 2008 Act on Combating Infectious Diseases.

Public transport controls

Ciarka said that in the last 24 hours, the police checked over 4,230 means of collective public transport, and since the introduction of the restrictions, it has already carried out 158,000 such checks.

– Since the beginning of the activities, about 274.3 thousand retail outlets and about 2.7 thousand places where discos are organized and about 9.6 thousand places for weddings were also inspected – he emphasized.

“The virus does not bypass uniforms”

Inspector Ciarka provided the latest data on coronavirus infections in the police. According to them, 2,115 policemen and 260 police employees were infected from the beginning of the operation; 827 policemen and 109 police employees recovered. More than 11,130 officers were in quarantine. Currently there are 2270 there.

– These numbers show that the virus does not bypass uniformed people, despite the precautions being taken. Unfortunately, our forces are weakened by this, and colleagues have even more tasks to perform instead of those who are absent, ‘he said.

– We are glad that the policemen are recovering, but let us remember – do not cheat the policemen, always provide true information about our health condition, follow the instructions of the policemen and obey their requests – Ciarka appealed.
