All the time I remind you of the big word: solidarity. It is solidarity with the elderly, sick or susceptible to infections, that is, some ten million people in this country – noted Professor Krzysztof Simon, a Lower Silesian consultant in the field of infectious diseases, on TVN24. Among other things, he talked about mutual responsibility in the face of the fall and winter season, when other diseases would join COVID-19.
The statistics of new and confirmed cases of coronavirus infections have deteriorated in recent days. While a week ago on Monday there were relatively few of them, i.e. 377, and on Tuesday and Wednesday about 600, the number of new infections recorded on Thursday was 837, and on Friday – 757.
On Saturday, the Ministry of Health informed about 1002 new, confirmed infections (with over 20,000 tests), confirmed on Sunday 910 cases (18.9 thousand tests) – the second highest value since the beginning of the epidemic. The last day was confirmed 711 cases.
A Lower Silesian consultant in the field of infectious diseases and head of the Department of Infectious Diseases and Hepatology at the Medical University of Wrocław, Professor Krzysztof Simon assessed on TVN24 that for “financial reasons, but also some experience, no one will allow another lockdown” in Poland. He also emphasized that we cannot allow certain situations, such as marches, the participants of which are against wearing masks and other restrictions introduced during the epidemic.
He pointed out that the participants of such demonstrations often invoke violations of their civil rights. – Civil rights are when one does not threaten another with their actions. All the time I remind you of the big word: solidarity – he said, explaining that it was, for example, about solidarity with people “elderly, sick or susceptible to infections”, that is, “some 10 million people in this country”.
– There are masks in Barcelona, in Antwerp there are masks, Taiwan is wearing masks, South Korea is wearing masks – he mentioned. – People protest here. Why? I know that young people will not get sick, but they do not necessarily have to finish off their grandfather, grandmother or sick parents – he emphasized.
“You can have different views, but the state is common”
This month, additional restrictions related to the epidemic were introduced in the United Kingdom (for example, limiting the number of weddings to 15 people) and Israel (for example, they will stay at home within 500 meters, except for people going to work).
Professor Simon reminded on TVN24 that the decision on additional restrictions belongs to the “rulers and economists”. – From my point of view, such a lockdown that we stay at home and do not go to work is probably impossible – he admitted. He noted, however, that perhaps in specific areas there should be “numerous restrictions”, such as wearing a protective mask in public spaces.
– And for this the absolute enforcement of wearing a mask in closed places and maintaining distance – he emphasized.
He mentioned at this point that the rule of wearing masks in shops or trams is not always followed. – Punish at this point, pay attention. It can’t be like that, ‘he commented. “There are others who may suffer,” he pointed out. – These are higher social goals, the interest of the state. You can have different views, but the state is common, he concluded.

The Lower Silesian consultant in the field of infectious diseases emphasized that “we do not know completely” how the COVID-19 epidemic will unfold, because this virus and the influenza virus “have one thing in common: the same way of spreading”, but in this case there is a fundamental difference : “early influenza can be prevented” and “vaccinated, flu medication administered”.
– If we follow the recommendations issued by the government and which we support: isolation, masks, washing hands, distance, we will reduce both the flu and COVID-19 – he explained.
