Corroded helmet, rifle magazines and bayonets. Among other things, such items were found by policemen from Garwolin in the 35-year-old’s house. The man was charged with searching for hidden or abandoned monuments without permission. He faces up to two years in prison.
As Sgt. pcs. Małgorzata Pychner from the Garwolin police, over the weekend the owner of the land in the Sobolew commune, where there is a historic manor house and park, informed the police that two unknown perpetrators had entered his property, probably in search of historical souvenirs.
They fled at the sight of the owner
– The men searched the ground using metal detectors. At the sight of the owner, they fled – said the policewoman.
She added that on the same day the uniforms detained one of the men. A 35-year-old resident of Garwolin poviat did not have the required permit to search for monuments. Meanwhile, in his house were found, among others corroded helmet, shells from shells, rifle magazines, anti-tank grenade handles, bayonets for weapons.
Men are looking for the second
– The man heard the accusation of searching for hidden or abandoned monuments without permission – said the policewoman. She added that he was liable to a fine, imprisonment or imprisonment for up to two years. Pychner noted that the policemen were looking for another man.
The spokeswoman recalled that history buffs can legally search for historic items. – It is enough to apply to the voivodeship office for the protection of monuments for an appropriate permit – she emphasized.
