Former Conservative MP and Commons Speaker John Bercow has stated he has switched allegiances to hitch the Labour Celebration.

Mr Bercow, who stepped down as Speaker in 2019, stated he regards the Tories beneath Boris Johnson as “reactionary, populist, nationalistic and typically even xenophobic”.

“I’m motivated by help for equality, social justice and internationalism. That’s the Labour model,” he instructed The Observer.

“The conclusion I’ve reached is that this authorities must be changed.

Mr Bercow stated he had joined Labour in current weeks.
