The District Prosecutor’s Office in Zgorzelec issued an arrest warrant for 25-year-old Dominik Hutnik, the alleged perpetrator of an accident in the village of Koźmin (Dolnośląskie), in which a three-year-old child was killed. Investigators also apply to the court for a European Arrest Warrant.
As the spokesman of the District Prosecutor’s Office in Jelenia Góra, prosecutor Tomasz Czułowski, said on Friday, the District Court in Zgorzelec acceded to the prosecutor’s request and arrested Dominik Hutnik for three months from the moment of his arrest. However, he is still wanted
– We have now issued an arrest warrant for the suspect and applied to the court for a European Arrest Warrant – said Czułowski, pointing out that the prosecution was taking into account that Hutnik had fled abroad. The prosecutor’s office also gave the police permission to publish the image of the man. It will be published soon.
Earlier, the prosecutor’s office issued a decision to bring charges against the alleged perpetrator of the accident. “The man will be charged with causing a fatal accident resulting in the death of a three-year-old child, as well as the fact that he fled the scene,” said prosecutor Czułowski. He added that he was facing 12 years in prison.
On Sunday afternoon, there was an accident on the provincial road 352 on the Zgorzelec-Bogatynia route, near the village of Koźmin (Zgorzelec poviat), in which a three-year-old child died and his parents were seriously injured, including a 29-year-old woman in advanced pregnancy.
The first to arrive at the scene were firefighters from the Zgorzelec unit, who accidentally passed through Koźmin. It was they who provided first aid to the injured.
The alleged perpetrator of the accident – Audi A6 driver – fled the scene. An intoxicated passenger was left in the car, which was to be driven by Dominik Hutnik. The prosecutor’s office questioned him as a witness.
The police from Zgorzelec issued an appeal to people who on Sunday afternoon traveled by provincial road number 352 on the Zgorzelec-Bogatynia relationship.
– All witnesses of the incident and drivers whose vehicles were equipped with video recorders, please contact the police in person or by calling 47 87 322 50 and 47 87 322 00.
