Labour has reopened its candidate choice course of within the race for the mayor of Liverpool, lower than two months earlier than nomination papers need to be submitted.

Mr Anderson was arrested in December on suspicion of conspiracy to commit bribery and witness intimidation as a part of an investigation into constructing and improvement contracts in Liverpool.

The 63-year-old had already been picked as Labour’s candidate and was aiming for a 3rd time period as mayor.

However he was administratively suspended by the social gathering pending the continued investigation.
