According to investigators, they met in various prisons, where they were serving sentences, and after leaving prison, they joined forces and began blowing up ATMs all over Poland. – In total, they managed to steal one and a half million zlotys in cash, they have already ended up in the hands of the police. They have at least six burglaries on their account – reports Andrzej Borowiak, spokesman for the provincial headquarters in Poznań.
The policemen entered the homes of Mariusz G., Marek S., Sławomir B. and Krzysztof R. on Thursday evening. The action was attended by officers from Poznań, Gorzów Wielkopolski, Wrocław and Szczecin – their aim was to detain a group of friends who lived in the Lubuskie Voivodeship on a daily basis. They were all suspected of breaking into ATMs in the following voivodeships: Wielkopolskie, Lubuskie, Pomorskie, Śląskie and Dolnośląskie.
100,000 euros in cash
– Policemen from the Criminal Division of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Poznań discovered the trail of this criminal group. They obtained information about people, methods of operation and ways of hiding or obliterating the trail, informs Andrzej Borowiak, spokesman for the Greater Poland Police.
It was quickly established that all four were recidivists. – They met in various prisons in Poland, where they were serving sentences for criminal offenses. After leaving prison, they made contact and started robbing ATMs – reports Borowiak. It doesn’t say exactly how they made the ATMs explode. It is known that the thieves used gas mixtures to blow up metal structures. One of the explosions can be seen in the video provided by the police.
G., S., B. and R. thus stole the amount of PLN 1.5 million. – During the arrest, the policemen also searched many rooms and buildings. Among other things, they found 100,000 euros in cash. They also secured the car and burglary tools – Andrzej Borowiak is enumerating.
On the basis of the collected evidence, prosecutors from the District Prosecutor’s Office in Poznań presented the detainees with allegations of burglary using the explosive method. The perpetrators acted under the conditions of recidivism. All detained were arrested by the decision of the district court in Poznań. They face up to 10 years in prison.
