The scenario is always the same. The animal escapes to a tall tree and is afraid to go down. They are saved by firefighters who, after three calls to the same cat within three months, asked the policemen to talk to the owner of the pet. The case is to go to court.
It was Thursday (June 10) when firefighters from the Volunteer Fire Department in Piątnica (Podlaskie Voivodeship) were called to rescue a cat that had climbed a tree in one of the properties at Szkolna Street. As the animal was sitting at a height of about ten meters, it was also necessary to ask for help from the Fire and Rescue Unit of the State Fire Service in Łomża, which came with a lift.
In three months, firefighters had pulled the same cat from the same tree three times. So they asked the policemen to talk to the 41-year-old owner of the dog.
A pet owner can pay up to a thousand zlotys
– We will submit a motion to the court for punishment – says senior inspector Urszula Brulińska from the Municipal Police Headquarters in Łomża.
The police will refer to the Code of Petty Offenses, which says that “Whoever does not observe the usual or prescribed precautions when keeping an animal is subject to restriction of liberty, a fine of up to PLN 1,000 or a reprimand”.
