The higher the turnout, the better the democracy – said during the election evening on TVN24 GO student Kuba Jaskólski, a representative of the youngest group of voters, among whom Rafał Trzaskowski achieved a very good result. According to the student Maja Kluczkowska, “the activity of artists and celebrities” could be responsible for such a result.
According to the late poll poll of 90 percent of the election commissions conducted by the Ipsos studio, Andrzej Duda won the second round of presidential elections on Sunday, with 51 percent of the vote.
The turnout according to the Ipsos survey was 67.9 percent
Trzaskowski’s clear advantage among young people
The survey results indicate that Duda will renew his mandate, but among the youngest voters, those aged 18-29, Trzaskowski achieved spectacular success. According to Ipsos, as many as 63.7 percent of the voters chose the Civic Coalition candidate. 67.2 percent of eligible people in this age group went to the polls.
– I’m not surprised at all. If I had to answer what caused the high result of Rafał Trzaskowski among young people, it seems to me that this is the activity of artists and celebrities – Maja Kluczkowska, a second-year student of political science at the University of Warsaw, said on TVN24 GO election evening.
Kluczkowska noticed that the song Taco Hemingway could have helped, which was published three days before the second round, which could encourage voting for Trzaskowski. It’s about the song “Polish Tango”.
– I got the impression that going to elections recently has just become fashionable. This is something to boast about, something that everyone around us does – said Kuba Jaskólski, also a political science student at the University of Warsaw. – I am very happy because the higher the turnout, the better the democracy – he added.
