After this vote, we know for sure: there is a man in the government who, according to the prime minister, is not acting in accordance with the Polish right, said in “Kropka nad i”, Deputy Speaker of the Senate Michał Kamiński (PSL). He thus referred to the adoption by the Sejm of the law on the ratification related to the EU Reconstruction Fund. Senator Jan Maria Jackowski assessed that in the ruling camp “there was a change in the program without announcing it to the citizens”.
On Tuesday, the Sejm passed a bill on the ratification of the EU’s own resources decision concerning the Reconstruction Fund. Since Solidarna Polska had long objected to the ratification, questions arose as to whether there would be a majority to support it. A few days before the session of the Sejm, the Left reached an agreement with PiS politicians, making voting conditional on including its demands in the National Reconstruction Plan. So it happened.
“It could have been Jarosław Kaczyński’s last fight”
This matter was discussed in “Kropka nad i” on TVN24 by Deputy Speaker of the Senate Michał Kamiński (PSL) and senator of the Law and Justice club Jan Maria Jackowski (unaffiliated).
– It could have been the last fight of Jarosław Kaczyński and Mateusz Morawiecki in this Sejm – assessed Kamiński. – It is not because of the decision of the Left – he added. – This row was on the verge of collapse. Everyone knows (…) that the game was not about whether Poles were to get money from the European Union or not – he argued.
According to him, “the only reason why Poland can realistically lose this money is the principle of money for the rule of law enshrined in the European Union”.
Kamiński also assessed that “Zbigniew Ziobro is in a rather difficult situation today”. – The prime minister clearly said that voting for this money is, according to the prime minister, a requirement of the Polish raison d’etat. After this vote, we know for sure: there is a man in the government who, according to the prime minister, is acting against the Polish arguments, he added.
“There was a program change without announcing it to citizens”
Jackowski pointed out that “when it comes to the Law and Justice program, and more broadly the United Right camp, this program includes the concept of a Europe of homelands, an objection to the federalisation of the European Union”.
Assessing Tuesday’s vote, in which 211 MPs from the PiS club were in favor of the ratification, he concluded that “it can be said that there was a program change without announcing it to citizens”. As he assessed, the program of political parties may change, “but it requires an open dialogue”. “But this dialogue is not here,” he noted.
– And bringing the matter by the prime minister or some representatives of the government that whoever is against this Fund is against the interest of Poland is, to put it mildly, a very large simplification, quite crude, of the whole matter – said Jackowski.
