Scammers pretend to be a courier company – police warning

A resident of Gniezno received an SMS that she had to pay a small amount for the shipment. When the woman wanted to settle the payment, her bank details were stolen and loans for over PLN 20,000 were taken for her. The Gniezno police warn against fraudsters claiming to be a courier company.

The message “from the courier company” showed that the parcel addressed to the woman was detained due to underpayment in the amount of PLN 0.50. The SMS contained a link to the page where you had to log in and settle the payment.

“Someone took a loan for her”

“When logging into the bank’s application, the aggrieved party was asked to provide her personal data, login and password for the account. While logging in, the website she was accessing repeatedly crashed. After some time, the woman noticed on her account that someone had taken a loan, and not long after she realized that another loan had been taken, “the police said.

It turned out that in total, loans for almost 23,000 were taken for her personal data. PLN.

The police called for caution and recalled that you should never log into your bank accounts via links received electronically.
