Sławomir Nowak may be released after nine months, the District Court in Warsaw decided, which rejected the prosecutor’s motion to extend his detention. He will be placed under supervision and will not be allowed to leave the country. In this case, Zbigniew Ziobro, the Minister of Justice, announced a press conference. Nowak is suspected of committing several corrupt acts, including accepting bribes for awarding contracts for the construction and repair of roads in Ukraine, as well as money laundering.
The former minister headed the Ukrainian state road agency Ukrawtodor in 2016-2019. He was detained as part of an investigation into this agency. The detention was the result of an international investigation conducted by a joint team of prosecutors from Poland and Ukraine as well as CBA and NABU officers.
The Minister of Justice will talk about the case of Sławomir Nowak at a press conference scheduled for 15.
