The official results after converting 99.7 percent of the vote show that the People’s Party won Tuesday’s elections to the parliament of the autonomous community of Madrid. The vote turned out to be a failure for the country’s co-ruling Spanish Socialist Workers’ Party, which came third with just 16.8 percent of the vote, securing itself 24 seats in the House.

The center-right party of the prime minister of the regional government, Isabel Diaz Ayuso, won nearly 45 percent of the vote, which gives the People’s Party (PP) 65 seats in the 136-seat parliament of the autonomous community of Madrid.

The PP score in the Madrid region is one of the best in years. During the evening speech, Prime Minister Diaz Ayuso emphasized that the success of her party took place during the elections with a record turnout, which exceeded 76 percent.

Defeat of the Socialist Workers Party
