The information about the death of the former PiS senator from the Nowy Sącz district was also confirmed by Wiktor Durlak, a friend of Stanisław Kogut, to the Polish Press Agency. He admitted that he had obtained the information from the deceased’s family.
Local media also write about the death of the Rooster. The website GORLICE24.pl reported that he died on Sunday in the hospital in Gorlice, where he stayed due to a coronavirus infection.
Former PiS senator
Stanisław Kogut was born on October 29, 1953 in Białka Niżna in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship.
He was elected senator in 2005 from the Law and Justice list in the Nowy Sącz district. In the 2007 elections, he again obtained a senatorial mandate. Also in the 2011 elections, he was re-elected from the PiS list to the upper house of parliament. He repeated his election victory in 2015. In the 2019 elections, he failed to win re-election.
In January 2020, the Central Anticorruption Bureau detained the former senator. It was related to the investigation of multi-million bribes, conducted by agents from the Krakow branch of the CBA.
