A 25-year-old man collapsed on a subway platform. The witnesses of the incident mistook him for intoxication, while his life was in danger. He stopped breathing. The city guards, called to the scene, began resuscitation.
The incident took place a few days ago at the Kabaty station. Around 6:45 pm, city guards received a report of an intoxicated person lying on the platform. “The man was pointed out by the subway security service. When the guards approached the man, they found that he cannot catch his breath, and his hands and face turn purple” – reported in the communiqué of the capital city guard.
When one of the officers called an ambulance, the other checked whether the man had choked and blocked his airways. As the guards later describe, a man who passed by accidentally joined the rescue operation, claiming to be a doctor. He found the recumbent man in a critical condition. At one point, the man stopped breathing.
Officers ordered subway security guards to bring a defibrillator immediately. This lifesaving device is installed at all metro stations.
“After using the defibrillator, one of the guards immediately started heart massage. The accompanying doctor performed artificial respiration. The guards carried out CPR alternately – until the arrival of the ambulance. Rescuers restored the man’s vital functions. After intubating, he was taken to the hospital” – informed the guards.
