The city has finally opened bids in a tender to build a new tram route along Kasprzaka Street. – Potential contractors will join the electronic auction, which may allow for lowering the proposed prices – informs the city office. The investment is to be ready in 2023.
As the town hall informed, seven companies applied for the tender.
“Six of them submitted bids close to the planned budget for the investment, which amounts to just over PLN 240 million gross. Now the bids will be verified and checked. Potential contractors will finally enter an electronic auction, which may allow for a reduction in the proposed prices” – we read in the message.
Field works will start after the tender has been settled and the contract signed with the selected contractor. As the town hall reminded, the tram on Kasprzaka Street will allow the residents of Wola to quickly reach the metro station at the Daszyńskiego roundabout and to the city center.
New stops and greenery
What can you expect from the changes? The tram drivers will build new tracks on the 2.3-kilometer section between Wolska and Skierniewicka. The existing ones – about 1.2 km long – on Wolska and Kasprzaka streets will be modernized. Passengers will also use six new stops: at Płocka, at the Warszawa Wola railway stop and at ul. Ordon. The tram route will run along the rapidly expanding housing estates in Odolany.
“Tory na Kasprzaka, just like on Grochowska, will be planted with greenery. The new route will provide quick access to two metro stations – Rondo Daszyńskiego and Rondo ONZ. The journey by tram will not exceed 15 minutes” – assured the city authorities.
And they added that the construction of the new tram route is scheduled to end in 2023 as planned. The contractor, after signing the contract, will have 20 months to complete the task. The 3-month winter periods from mid-December to mid-March will not be included in this period. But if the weather permits, he will be able to work also during this period.
Nearly a thousand questions
We have already informed about the fact that the investment will be built – despite budget cuts caused by the coronavirus pandemic – on tvnwarszawa.pl. The tram to Kasprzaka was long awaited. The idea of returning the warehouses to this street was announced for a long time.
Recently, however, there have been reports of postponing the opening date of bids.
– As for the second tender, i.e. for construction works, we have planned the opening of bids on February 11, announced Maciej Dutkiewicz, spokesman for Warsaw Trams in January. – The earlier dates for the opening of bids are: November 23, 2020, December 29, 2020, January 28, 2021. Today I received information that the total number of questions for the tender we received was 953. They were sent a few days ago. We are obliged to respond to them in accordance with the public procurement law. We are convinced that the reliable and accurate answers we provide to potential contractors will make cooperation with the one we choose more efficient. This can affect the pace of investment. Of course, only positively – said Dutkiewicz at the time.
